cary real estate agenty - Devon Broughton

Devon is a native to North Carolina and grew up an hour northeast of Raleigh, in Rocky Mount. “I came here for college and ended up staying for the quality of life. Little did I know that when I came to Raleigh and began at Meredith College that four years later, I would be graduating from North Carolina State University with a BA in Interpersonal and Public Communication. And little did I know either, that I would be a Realtor, too!” Click here to view my resume.

Get the Most of Everyday
What would life be like if we didn’t make the most of everyday? “To me, if you never give your dreams a try, you’ll never know what you could’ve done. That’s why I enjoy my career so much. I get to be around and help people. And I love people. I love to wake up everyday with a new challenge and exciting things to do. I love making my clients happy,” says Devon.

So what is Expect More. Get More. all about? The two main things I strive for with any client is 1. Making sure you’re happy (which also means giving you the best advice I can and making sure your real estate experience is nothing less than wonderful) and 2. Making a life-long friendship. With Devon, you can expect higher quality service, expect great advice and step-by-step guidance, expect her to be there to handle all the details of your transaction herself, expect great negotiation skills, expect her to be available for you and answer questions—you are always number one. Expect More!

You’ll Get More with Devon as well. You get satisfaction, tenacity and follow-through. You’ll always know where we are in the process of buying/selling and will never be left in the dark. You’ll always have your options laid out for you. You won’t be pressured into any decisions. You’ll get unbiased opinions. You’ll get advice that is beneficial for you. You get my word and promise that I do what I say I will. You’ll get results. Get More!

Leadership
Devon has naturally found herself in various leadership roles. An effective leader inspires and motivates while getting the job done. She is past president (for 2 terms) and has serverd 5 Vice Presidents and is currently Secretary of Treasurey of her networking group, “The Cary Champions,” and now serves her second term as Vice President. She has chaired the Realtor Political Action Committee (RPAC) in her office before, helping to raise funds at the grassroots level for important political matters in her business. She has organized business entrepreneurial and self-defense workshops for fellow Jaycees. Currently, she serves on the 2007 Agent Leadership Council (ALC) at KW Cary, an honorary and voluntary leadership position. The top 20% producing agents are invited to be on the ALC, a committee who makes the driving decisions for productivity, core services, culture and growth, in any KW market center. (Did you know that only 20% of the agents in any market area do 80% of the business?) Devon also chairs the Career Development Committee at KW Cary in 2007.

Beyond Real Estate…
Family and Friends

Having been brought up in a small town in North Carolina near all of her family, she has strong family roots and traditions. She is very close with her family and routinely makes time to spend with them. “Although we have all moved to different areas of NC, we stay in touch on a daily to weekly basis and see each other very often,” Devon adds.

Just as strong meaningful relationships with family members are paramount in Devon’s life, so are ones with friends. She remains close with some of her best friends from college, whom all get together often. “There wouldn’t be much to life without family and good friends,” she says. Just as her desire to stay close with them, her clients find Devon becoming more than just their agent—their friend. “We built a not only a professional relationship with Devon, but a friendship as well,” Kristen Fitzgerald

“I couldn’t imagine just forgetting about my clients after the time we spend together in a real estate transaction. I really take the time to get to know my clients and find out exactly what they want. If I didn’t, I wouldn’t be doing my job. Even so, I like to stay in touch and go out occasionally for coffee just to catch up,” Devon says.

Horses—Her Favorite Hobby!

Devon is an accomplished equestrian who has taught people how to ride, trained her own horses, and competed at the world levels. She has been awarded Reserve World Champion three times in her show career. Devon had always dreamed of riding when she was very young and finally got the lessons she’d been begging for when she was eight. “When I got my first horse, you couldn’t drag me out of the barn. I was so passionate about my horse, the art of the skill and attention to all of the details it took to care for such a large animal, of whom was so dependent on me. The love of the sport has always drawn me in,” she exclaims. Devon is still just as passionate about her horses today as she was the day of her first riding lesson. She has two American Saddlebreds, Chaz and Zip. The same passion she shares for her horses and attention to the details transpires to her real estate career.

Some of the greatest lessons she ever learned in life came from horses. One that sticks out clearly to her is when you fall off the horse, always get back on, no matter

what. As Winston Churchill said, “Never ever give up.” He also stated, “Whether you think you can or you think you can’t, either way you are right.” Devon attributes her successes to her relentless determination and support of family and friends.

Volunteering—“Having an Attitude of Gratitude”

“I’ve learned that you shouldn’t go through life with a catcher’s mitt in both hands; you need to be able to throw some things back,” Maya Angelou

Ever since a teen, Devon has understood the importance of giving back to the community. From helping at the Soup Kitchen, to rebuilding roofs and remodeling houses, she finds time in her daily life to contribute to the community. As a member of the Raleigh Jaycees, she has chaired several projects, been a cubscout leader, and helped with their annual Haunted House.

Devon is a Big Sister and has a wonderful mentoring relationship with her Little Brother, Taiquan. Together, they have gone to many types of local ball games, museums, convention shows, plays, and spent time together just hanging out. She also makes it a priority to be one of the youth leaders for the high school group at her church, spending Sunday nights with the teenagers and seasonal trips. Being a positive role model to youth is an important aspect of her life.

At KW Cary, they launched the first annual Fashion Victim Charity Ball in November 2006. Agents at KW Cary found numerous community sponsors and made contributions to the two beneficiary charities: April’s Angels(link below) and The Center for Volunteer Caregiving(link below). “It was wonderful to be a part of something so special for our local community. We all helped out and pulled together to make the ball a huge success. I know that next year it will be even larger—and is going to grow every year. We all had a great time dressing up as ‘fashion victims.’ My 1920’s lamp shade dress got a lot of attention—as did all the other tacky party clothes!”

At Home…
When she’s not with clients, “horsing around,” or spending time with Taiquan or the kids at church, Devon enjoys her two energetic Labs, Buddy and Babe. She also paints, draws, and does photography.
